Forbes – SPY Car Act Hopes To Save American Cars From Digital Disaster

Car manufacturers just aren’t getting the message: modern vehicles are vulnerable and if they aren’t secured, hackers will start attacking them from afar and cause chaos. Despite repeated demonstrations of remote exploitation of automobiles from laptops miles away, including another today in which specific vulnerabilities in Chrysler cars were highlighted, the issue isn’t being taken seriously enough by the automotive industry.

Enter the leviathan. Two US senators, Ed Markey and Richard Blumenthal, are trying to stop any future disasters on American roads with The Security and Privacy In Your Car Act (nicely abbreviated to the SPY Car Act 2015).
